Two New Companies Sign up with trees4travel
Two Guernsey companies have decided to do something positive about global warming.
Guernsey based Uniglobe Island Travel, which also has offices in Oxford and Bristol, has signed an agreement with trees4travel. Under the agreement every customer who books a holiday or a flight from January 2007 through Uniglobe Island Travel has the chance to buy and plant a tree for less than £2.
Uniglobe Island managing director Fred Eulenkamp said, "Unlike the recent tax hike on air travel that actually has unquantifiable environmental benefits, if any, this is a great idea. It's what our customers want, direct action and a tangible product that actually does the job. It's not compulsory but I'm delighted to sign this agreement.
A second Guernsey company 24-7 Petcare has signed an agreement with trees4travel. Much of 24-7 Pet Care's business entails looking after people's pets when they are on holiday. In future when anyone asks 24-7 Petcare to look after their pets for more than a week the company will buy a tree to be planted by trees4travel.
Jessica Valpied, who runs 24-7 Petcare said "Global warming is surely the single greatest threat to our planet. By buying and planting a tree each time one of our customers goes on holiday we feel we are doing something about it instead of just talking."
